The first exercise is a step-by-step tutorial which shows how to create input data, how to build a model from the beginning and how to save and view the results. The goal is to apply the methodology for the river Var case study. Two exercises have been designed to get familiar with the Mike 21 software tools. The basic input data are also briefly introduced. Afterwards, it describes the governing SWEs which are the basis of the HydroDynamic module (HD). It presents several software for 2D hydraulic modelling and compare the different codes used to approximate the solution of the Shallow Water Equations (SWEs). Read it carefully and it will certainly help you to understand how MIKE 21 works. The following presentation is a short introduction of Mike 21 software. The target of this lesson is to introduce Mike 21 software for 2D free surface flow modelling within the context of the HydroEurope project.
